Why it exists

The crew socks,
your feet will notice.

Nobody photographs their socks at the summit, but ask anyone who has done a long descent on bad ones. These are knitted for exactly the ground the journal covers: loose volcanic scree, wet forest roots, and the hot tarmac kilometres that connect them.

The construction does the talking — terry-loop cushioning under heel and forefoot only, a thin breathable instep, a knitted-in arch band that keeps the sock from twisting, and a true seamless toe closure so there is nothing to feel at hour four. The crew height is deliberate: it is where the scree stops and the brush scratches end.

The standard

The standard we set for it: the Vermont-knitted trail socks that come with a lifetime guarantee. Ours should never make you think about them, which is all a sock can aspire to.
