Site grade
Easy mediumFeaturedA half marathon on closed asphalt, but at 2,600 m, where the organizer's own guidance says there is about 26 percent less oxygen than at sea level. The course is a city loop, not a flat one; the gain is not published.
The experience
A closed-road half marathon on asphalt with bridges over the NQS and a long northbound leg. The altitude is the course: the organizer tells runners to expect about 26 percent less oxygen than at sea level and to adjust their times.
Erick Sang's 1:01:59 in July 2026 is the fastest half marathon ever run in the race, at an altitude where most elite fields would not attempt one. The event has carried World Athletics labels since 2009.
Organized by Correcaminos de Colombia with the city's recreation and sport institute, the IDRD, the race has become Bogotá's biggest sporting day: 26 editions, more than a million finishers over its history and runners from more than 69 countries.
Where the sources disagreeThis is a race, not an open route: the streets are closed for it once a year and are ordinary Bogotá traffic the rest of the time. The 2027 edition is Sunday 25 July 2027; registration opened 25 July 2026 and closes 22 July 2027 or when places run out, with a price that rises by stage. The regulations publish no cut-off time; in 2026 the city reopened roads gradually between 9:30 and 13:00 behind the last runners. The 21K requires runners aged 18 or over. The 2026 course went north to Calle 150; the organizer publishes the route for each edition and it changes, so download the current PDF and GPX before planning.

Route sections
Four waves leave from 8:30 at eight-minute intervals, the elite and Filtro 1 first. The first kilometres go east on Calle 63 past the stadium, still on the crowd's adrenaline and 2,600 m of thin air.02 · The Northbound GridCarreras 24 and 19 north to Calle 92
The course turns up the numbered carreras through Teusaquillo and Chapinero to Calle 92. Straight, urban, closed to traffic, with the service islands and their water on the way.03 · Séptima to 150Calle 127 and Carrera Séptima to the Calle 150 turn
Calle 127 joins the Carrera Séptima, the city's spine, and the road runs north to Calle 150, the farthest point of the 2026 course. Earlier editions turned at Calle 26; this one goes to the north of the city.04 · The NQS BridgesAvenida NQS and Avenida Chile to the park
South on the NQS, over its bridges, then Avenida Chile, Carrera 36A and Calle 53 back to the Parque Simón Bolívar. The 10K field starts at 10:00, so the last kilometres are shared.
